LCA disassembly??

I have used the control arms off from another truck that had been basically all redone. But when I put them on my truck, the left one worked fine, bolted right up tight. The right one went on but the u bolt on the front of the lca wouldnt seat correctly, the rear one was fine. It seems that the po of the donor truck put the lca cross shaft in backwards. The rivit wasnt in the divit.
So this is my question if any of my ramblings made any sense. First, if I leave it like that will it be difficult to align or most important of all, be safe? It's about an 1/8" from seating correctly in the u bolt saddle. Also, how do I disassemble that shaft to turn it around the correct way. If I do that, do I need a new one? Any pics, showing how to get them apart would be great.

Re: LCA disassembly??

I'd probably just remove the cross shaft and flip it. Bolts can be a pain, but not terrible.

Re: LCA disassembly??

How do I get this shaft apart to flip it? Any tips/tricks? Pics?? Right now the divot in the shaft is near the rear u bolt saddle, is this right/wrong? I just want to make sure it really does need to be flipped around. IIRC, I dont think there is much of an alignment rivit sticking through the rear saddle but there is in the front saddle.

Re: LCA disassembly??

The mounting divits should actually be towards the front. Just did mine last week and installed new cross shafts. You'll need to unscrew each of the large bolts on the ends of the shaft. I used a pipe wrench to unscrew them. Once there out, remove the shaft, flip it around and install the bolts again, screwing them back in evenly. That's really it. Grease and go.
