Re: There is an engine in here...right?!
Nice pictures! How long has the truck been sitting? This is a pretty common vehicle problem up here in the High Desert too

There was a pic posted a couple of months ago that was worse. Basically from ground level to hood level with nest packing.

Re: There is an engine in here...right?!
Small deer, supposedly the story was it was hit at high speed on the autobahn.
I never had a nest nearly that bad, but I did leave my 01 sitting for a couple months during college, went to crank it up and a bird had built a nest in the fan shroud. Chucked pieces of nest and egg all over the engine, didn't notice it till it started smoking a couple miles down the road.

Re: There is an engine in here...right?!
I'm not sure what it is, but I know it's dead! I have no nest pictures, but I was at Pull-A-Part yesterday and saw a couple of old trucks nested up just like it.

Re: There is an engine in here...right?!
The varmints around Coarsegold could make that much mess in less than a month. I was cleaning out a new nest in my Camaro one day, and the big rat that made it jumped up on the manifold and basically gave me the finger. I sprayed her with the hose, and she ran out the bottom of the Camaro and went straight up under the hood of my truck! Oh, the arrogance!

Re: There is an engine in here...right?!
I found one that was just recently dropped off at a junkyard that was completely filled with pine needles from sitting under a tree for years with the hood open.
And I found mouse food (corn kernals) inside the auto tranny pan of my jimmy from sitting without a dipstick in it.

Have any of you guys that have this problem tried putting Bounce dryer sheets all over the motor to see if it keeps them out? It works for me with the mice. I presume that is Packrats, we don't have those... LockDoc
