20x10 front wheels - stepside

What's going on fellas. Just logging in and getting ready to start my rebuild. Have 73 chevy stepside and I am working on rebuild from ground up. I am getting all the details on paper for the parts and wanted to ask a question on the wheels. I will be doing a 3/5 DJM drop on it and changing out to disc brakes on all 4. I was thinking about running 20x10 up front and a 20x12 on rear. Anyone have this? I been browsing on forum for hours and it seems everyone is doing the 20x8.5 front and 20x10 on rear. Will the big fenders of stepside hold the 20x12 on the rear? Also, does the 20x10 come out to wide on the front fender?

I use to run 15x10 all around it back in the late 80's. Different set up back then, but has anyone tried the 20x10 on front and 20x12 on rear? I like that thick meaty look. Don't want anything sticking out on the front, but I like it thick and tight in the front too.. not sunk in too much on the front fender. Just my taste.

Here it was when I first rebuilt it. Now almost 20 years later I am starting on the rebuild round two. Same exact truck. I should have never let it go in the first place.

Nice truck.

It would seem to me that your going to get a ton of rubbing if in front with the 10" wide.

I havent gotten to the point of buying wheels yet so this is all speculation.

Justpball is running 22x10 on the front of his suburban, find his build thread. You will have to narrow your control arms or porterbuilt builds some pretty nice arms too

Re: 20x10 front wheels - stepside

I have 20x10s on the front of a 72 with a 75 front end on it. It had 3 inch drop spindles and one inch springs and does not rub anywhere. I have 5 inch back spacing and they stick out a little too far for my liking. It's the truck in my signature if u want to go look at it

Have you even looked in to what wheel you want and see if its made in a 20 x 12? Most billet wheels made in a 12" wide the cost jumps up huge for that last 2"

Re: 20x10 front wheels - stepside

Thanks brothers. El Campo... I checked it out... Nice build! I am up in the air on it, but I was thinking the 10's because the original in the picture above was 10s on the front, but now that I look at it better, those were sticking out a tad and once I lower it with bigger rims, it will be up against it unless I do some mods.

Yes, I checked em out... Billet Specialties has them. The jump in prices is there, but it is not that significant.

I'm sure you have already looked at them but in case you haven't, really wide tires are wicked expensive. Even 315s are 4-600 dollars a piece so I would hate for you to be caught off guard by that. They look awesome tho!!!
