th350 speedo leak

My speedo cable adapter is leaking at the trans, but I don't see the adapter pictured in the manual. I don't want to open it up without knowing what's in there. Any trick to it, or just pull it out and match the o-rings?

Thanks, hay. Also, I forgot to ask: I don't need to drain off the trans fluid - right?

Re: th350 speedo leak

domeier.....when I changed mine, I jacked the back of the truck up (put blocks in front of the front wheels)...some fluid will leak out, but jacking it up may limit it....

Re: th350 speedo leak

If it is leaking between the bullet and the case, an o-ring may fix it. If it is leaking between the speedo driven gear and bullet and coming out around the cable, then you need a new bullet and driven gear. The steel bullets are much better than the aluminum ones. Very common problem with aluminum ones.
