3/4 ton rearend swap? Options?
What are the typical rearends swapped out to get a 4:11 in a '47 to '55 3/4 ton trucks and keep the 8 lug? I have a '50 3/4 ton with 4:57 rearend and would like to swap out for a higher geared 4:11 or so. What later model yearends match up width wise?

Re: 3/4 ton rearend swap? Options?
I'd be looking at 67/68 GMC 3/4 tons. They are leaf spring rear ends.
I don't know what rear ends the mid 60's have but up to about 68 should be narrow enough. The 70 and up are wider though. Or you might be able to swap just the center section out of a late 50's early 60's rear end. I've got a good 4.11 rear end in my 71 that I am pulling out to put a 3.54 Posi in in it's place but it's too wide and I'm too far away. Last edited by mr48chev; 12-14-2011 at 10:44 AM. |
