WOW! Square body parts are going up.

I saw the NOS GMC grill that went for over 1k recently and thought it was a fluke. Had my eye on this dash bezel when it was below 100.00 I thought I might buy it even though its not an a/c bezel. I went above my limit but I watched it anyway.

Its not crazy high, but it sure went for more than I thought it would...LINK

our trucks have come into the classic stage..they used to be a dime a dozen now parts are getting rarer and more in demand..

At the same time I see them crushed on flatbeds headed to the recycler, almost brings a tear to your eye.

That bezel is mis-advertised, it isn't for a 74 application.

I had seen that one earlier, the headlight switch area is incorrect for a 73-74. Right?

we all need to start post'n that these are crappy truck's and tell everyone they need the 88 and up style, then our parts will get cheaper !

Re: WOW! Square body parts are going up.

This reminds me of an episode of American Pickers I watched recently... The guy said that because everyone wants brand new shiny parts they are buying aftermarket stuff and he said it drives the cost of original way down to the point its not worth anything. When in fact its the complete opposite NOS AND ORIGINAL parts will ALWAYS cost more.

A local guy has an NOS hood for a 73-80 for 200. I may have to call him.

My apologies for never connecting with you. I really want an NOS piece, but yours would hold me over till I find one. Maybe we can hook up in the next few weeks.

Maybe I should stock up on NOS parts so the price will come down. It happens with pretty much any car I buy, so teh parts should be the same, right?

Re: WOW! Square body parts are going up.

I found a u-pull salavge yard here in Fosterburg IL. Maws Salvage. They have 15-25 square bodys, from early 70's up. Some C-60's too. Decent inventory from K-10 to K-30.

Re: WOW! Square body parts are going up.

Does this mean that the value of our trucks are also going up? They have too, classics never go down. Except if you let them turn into rust buckets etc. I do not drive eather truck in snow and I know this may sound silly but try not to drive also when raining.

Re: WOW! Square body parts are going up.

ken, how much did the NOS bezel go for? i can tell you this- i just started selling on ebay again after about a year off, since i'm basically out of the 73-87 market place now i'm selling off some of my parts that are laying around and I'm scared to put them for auction because the hits have dropped tremendously, which means the bids will also. . I usually pic a BIN price I'm happy with and go with it. Crossy

Re: WOW! Square body parts are going up.

there is a big difference between nos parts and these trucks. 35 year old new parts are hard to find for anything. these trucks on the other hand have almost no value. barely over scrap weight. there are dozens of trucks on my local craigs that are selling for less than the price of their tires. if you are in doubt look for yourself. $2000 will get you a real decent truck with a big block and nice tires. there are several dozen for $800-$1200 that you could turn key and daily drive. I seen one today for 3k that had 6" lift weld wheels 35's and nice paint! if I was smart enough. I would give mine to the next guy walking down the street and buy that one. but I get attached to things for some reason.

Not the case up here. 2000$ gets you rusted out with a blown motor and 4-6000$ would be a rust free but not show condition truck. Of coarse there will be exceptions but for the most part nice trucks are still expensive here. Just my .02

Not my truck but you get the idea...

That one went for $410.87. I wondered if it would go high since it was not an a/c bezel. I had planned to buy it anyway if it had sold for a fair price, but as the guys from American Pickers like to say "at $410.87 there was not a lot of meat left on the bone"
