Are these the '63 power steering brackets for a 6 cylinder?
I recently purchased some power steering brackets that were sold as 1963-1965 chevy 6 cylinder power steering brackets.
I also have the CPP power steering conversion kit, with the Saginaw power steering pump. The kit also came with power steering brackets, but it appears it is for the 8 cylinder motor. For the life of me I can't seem to figure out how these 6 cylinder brackets properly mount to the pump. So I'm thinking either these brackets are incorrect, or they were not made for the Saginaw pump. I saw in my searches some guy on ebay that sells after market brackets that will work, but I wanted to use factory brackets if possible, though if I can't figure this thing out I may just purchase the after market brackets. I wanted to ask you guys first though. Any thoughts?

I spent a lot of time today playing around with these and think I figured it out.
I haven't seen any good photos of these brackets on anything, so once I get the bolts, I'll assemble it all and post photos for the next person that sucks at assembling puzzles as much as I do.

Which 6 cyl do you have. The 230/250 or the 292? The PS brackets are not interchangeable.

Re: Are these the '63 power steering brackets for a 6 cylinder?
Sorry I should have mentioned that I have a 230, and these brackets as they were sold to me are for the 230/250 from '63-'65.
I've searched photos, and it seems there are tons of different 6 cylinder brackets out there. I think I have figured out how to make them work, though from some photos of other brackets, there may be 1 piece missing. This whole 6 cylinder power steering pump bracket thing is confusing, the v8's have it so much easier.

Re: Are these the '63 power steering brackets for a 6 cylinder?
One last question that I haven't been able to find a clear answer on. I'm going to need a second pulley on the crank. My 230 dampener has just one pulley groove on it which is used for the alternator. I see where I can just bolt on a second pulley to the front of the dampener with 3 bolts, but I haven't been able to find a chevy 230/250 specific crank pulley for power steering.
From the looks of it a small block chevy (with the short water pump) crank pulley would bolt on too, but I've read mixed things about it lining up correctly with the power steering pump on the inline 6. Would this work or should I look for a 230 dampener with the double pulleys. My dampener is new so I'd hate to have to replace it already.

If I recall properly ,the right "pulley " is another balancer , it should be a 2 groove balancer ... I should have one lying around if you cant find one ...

Would you be will to sell the extra top bracket? I bought a set that was suppose to be for a non integrated head and the top bracket does not fit, I then found out that the bracket is for an intergraded head but that the other brackets would work. Thanks Joe |
