Dual Exhaust on a 4.3L TBI?
Was wondering if his is a good or bad idea as I had read that for the S-10 trucks it is advised against this move.
Engine so far is basically stock. The trucks main use is a 3passenger car with a 8' trunk. 99% street use only. Thank you, Jake |

Dual exasut is fine if you use small enough tubes. Dual 2" would be great.

1st Welcome to the addiction,
It would help if you put your location for emissions reasons. Any way i have Edeldrock headers and there cat back system with a Dynomax high flow cat on my '92 4.3 S10. The system is dual into singal 2.25 back into dual 2" and it is just as good or better than a dual system i've heard some 4.3's with dual's and they sound like $h!t IMO. And if you go with a dual system you will have to use two of everything as you may know if you live in a state that has emissions insp. then you will have to install two cat's and they arn't cheap. |

NO Exhaust inspection here in West Virginia.
I had seen many exhaust items listed for the 4.3L S-10's but almost nothing for the 4.3L R-10's. Wonder if a set of headers for a 1987 S-10 4.3L would fit???? |

oh, didnt realize we were dealing with a full size, you mentioned an S10 in your first post, and i thought that's what we were dealing with. if it were my truck, i'd upgrade to a 2.5" pipe (i believe 4.3s had 2 1/4" single exhaust) a high flow cat, and a good flowing muffler. IMO duals on a 6 cylinder of any kind sound like trash.

I think a set of headers for a S10 would bolt up with out any problems theres alot of room in a f/s eng compartment just make shure if you have an automatic to order headers for that and not manual or vice/versa. But i really think you should save some more money and just put a V8 in that full size truck and be done with it. |

I had been toying with either having a V-8 or even a newer truck as this one has 190,000mile+ but it runs nice.
Would like to stay with a V-6 TBI as with gas hitting $1.75 per gallon around here that V-6 sipper is easier on my wallet. Will really have to look at my "Hot Rod" ideas before I blow the money on this old goat. Engine and tranny run great, no oil burning, good mileage, never failed to start, but the bed is in rough shape and could really use some new fenders and doors. |
