my front right tire sticks out

On my 86 chevy pickup my right tire stick out about 1/2"-3/4" more than the other 3 tires, what could be the problem?

Its the red truck that is in my profile picture.

Re: my front right tire sticks out

I've seen some vehicle's that the body has shift'd on the mount's and it cause's one tire to stick and the other to be tuck'd.
it's somethen to check into. look at the hood seem's and bed to cab gap's, if this the case you should be able to spot it there also.

Re: my front right tire sticks out

It makes sense about the body bushings shifted, my truck was run off in a ditch by the previous owner and it has very little damage to passenger side fender but my truck has a dent on driver's side rear cab on the trim where the bed came into contact with it. Maybe it was snatched out of ditch causing this. I thought about taking it to an alignment shop but my truck drives fine, maybe a frame shop or body shop would be a good idea.

Re: my front right tire sticks out

Some were built that way at the factory.

The cab is so short that it can be set crooked on the frame (when viewed from the top). When that happens, the hood shoots off to that same side. The front end is shifted to fit the fenders to the hood.

Normally you can tell because the gap between the front bumper (which is attached directly to the frame) and fender will be greater on one side than the other.

Longer cabs, like crew cabs or Suburbans, are less susceptible to this.

I guess its possible when it was towed out, a hard side pull with a large tow truck could bent both frame rails over slightly.

Should be a little noticeable with all the Fender / hood gaps.
