66 4x4

Found a 66 C10 4x4 fleetside with a 283. Trying to find out how many 4x4 trucks were produced in 66? Assuming it is factory. Thanks for any info.

Re: 66 4x4

It's bought, I'll try to add pics tomm. I have messed with a few 67-72's but none of these. Its rough around the edges but it's going to be a feed hauler/ general farm truck. I have not seen many 4x4 short beds in this body style, that's why I asked. Stay tuned!

Re: 66 4x4

Here she is. Rough around the edges but I'm satisfied. The tailgate is pretty rough. The cab roofline has been rigged a little with foam (pictured), but Im going to use it as a worker so its ok. Interior is just an ole truck interior, nothing to take pics of. This is my first truck from the 60-66 models. Ron, what's the difference between a CK and K truck?

Nice find, it looks to be factory with the full time non-unlockable hubs.

there is no CK..... there is a C=2 whl dr, K=4 whl dr
now if there is a C in your registration and it is a 4 x4, someone has altered it

Man do I feel like an idiot. That's one of those things I have just always assumed, that a "ck" existed. Glad I have a clear understanding now. thanks.

Re: 66 4x4

Sweet truck! The body looks pretty straight, especially for a 4x4. From what I've seen it seems that people really beat on these old 4x4s as true work trucks.
I always wanted a short fleet 60-66, but I finally found a long bed and cut it down.

Re: 66 4x4

Hey bish.................Here's the production numbers in 1966 on 4x4's. I'm not sure but I didn't think there were any shortbed 4 wheelers made. Feel free to chime in if I'm wrong (trust me I've been wrong a lot). The book I have says there a total of 678 K1434 Fleetside pickups made. Great find and have fun with your truck addiction. .............Hemmit

Re: 66 4x4

When I turn the hubs to engage the 4x4, they turn and turn without stopping. How is engaging 4x4 supposed to work on these?

they could be hooped and there are parts missing. they should only go so far to be engaged. You will have to take them apart to check it out

Re: 66 4x4

You will want to remove all the foam. It will attract rust and hold moisture on both sides making the problem worse. Nice find though.

Re: 66 4x4

Are your hubs Dana Hub Lok? I have those on my 1961 they will keep turning in both directions. There are arrows on the hub body that align with the knob, arrows in = engaged, arrows out = free.

As Demmit Hemmit's 65 said 678 short beds were produced in 1966. Welcome to the club assuming it is factory as I own one of the 678 that were produced. Here is a link, it ony shows production numbers for 65' and 66'.
