Lowering a '99 Tahoe

My mom has a 99 2wd Tahoe. She is handicapped and wondered what it would take to lower it enough to help her get in easier. I was thinking spindles and shackles, but will spindles fit in the stock aluminum wheels and do shackles work the same on the Tahoes as they do on the trucks? I'm not looking for a crazy drop, maybe 2" or 3" in front and level the rear.

Re: Lowering a '99 Tahoe

I was looking at a kit from Bell Tech that includes springs and shackles. Will it need an alignment or anything else?

Re: Lowering a '99 Tahoe

Thanks, I talked to them tonight about it further, and I don't think 2" will be enough. I had my dad let air out of the tires till the wheel wells were 2" lower and it wasn't much help. I think they are going to investigate a handicap van or taking the Tahoe to a some sort of handicap outfitter to see other options.

Re: Lowering a '99 Tahoe

You could do an airbag system that would let all air out when it is parked, then when she gets in, she can air it up, or it will do it its self. holler at one of our vendors, they will give you all options and pricing for the parts
