Build-a-blazer?

So I kind of searched this, but not really. I will go ahead and apologize if this topic has been beaten to death, however, what are yalls thoughts about taking a 67-72 Chevy fleet side pick up and cutting the top, and rear of the cab off to make a blazer?

I work too much to do anything about this in the near future but I am the proud owner of a 1968 Chevy c20, a fleet side pickup bed trailer, and a 1988 Chevy blazer. The 1973-1991 blazers have like a 2.5 inch longer wheelbase than the 69-72s. Instead of finding a 69-72 blazer tub, and then having to deal with the rear tires being too far back, I was thinking about building a blazer out of the truck I have. Maybe cut the roof, and back of the cab off of my 68, cut the front of the bed off and weld it together to fit the wheelbase 88 blazer frame. Simple enough right?

Has anyone done something like this? Could someone try it, and tell me how it goes?

The PU have a longer wheel base and it doesn't look quite right. You'll also need to do a lot of structural support and some creative welding to get the bed grafted to the cab and not have it crack.

You'll also need to do a lot of fab work to get the new truck unibody on to the 88 frame. All new body & radiator support mounts. Steering setup might be a challenge too.

Not to say that it isn't possible, but it would be easier to find a Blazer. Then you wouldn't cut up a nice truck too.

If you want a full convertible blazer, look into converting your 88 into a full convertible. I've seen several of those where they put the windshield header from a 73-75 on a half-top blazer.

I was thinking cut like half a foot off the front of the bed, youd have to loose about 9 inches of wheelbase going from a short bed to a 88 blazer frame.

the 88 is a full convertible, thanks to an angle grinder and a few beers, just thinking a 68 blazer with 88 running gear could be cool
