How about a little advice???

OK, here goes. Say acouple years ago you bought a 1970 Chevy 1/2 ton SB. Damn clean truck, all stock. Sits in your shop for a couple years and then at Christmas time, your kids and wife tie a sock around your eyes and lead you to your shop and say Merry Christmas!!! And sitting before you, in front of your truck that you have not touched since you bought it, is a brand new 383 stroker. And they say, Dad isn't it about time to start the rebuild on your truck?? So, now, the cab and bed is at the Hot Rod paint shop and the chassis is in your shop and you say to yourself......should I rebuild this old chassis or should I just go ahead and order a new one, oh ya and your wife say's around 15K she will give you for the chassis alone. Ya, I know.....what would you guy's do?? Where would you go?? Because this happened to me.

If I were in your shoes, I would first nail down the nature of this project. Stock-ish, Pro-Street, Pro-Touring, Full Custom, etc. With that in mind you have to determine where your money, time and abilities are best utilized. For a stockish resto-mod the stock frame with some quality upgrades like control arms, springs, brakes and shocks would be adequate and free up cash for other things.
However if you want to make this thing haul ass around corners- you'll definately be time ahead to start off with a new box-tube chassis. For my money I'd go with one of the two below.

I would rebuild the stock frame with upgrades.I don't see one of these trucks being spry enough to race SCCA,light enough to drag race,or heavy duty enough to tow a semi trailer.I think the best use of one is a clean driver,a work truck or work of art.A new frame could get it to handle well and may be a worthwhile upgrade if you want a "Canyon Carver".

OK, here's the ol girl, of course she looks nothing like that now. I will get some pics from the body shop, still gotta make a decision this week on the chassis. Actually, Nate at Porterbuilt......Hi Nate, Nate and I have been talking and I am 99% sure we are gonna ship this thing tp Az. for a total makeover from Mr. Nate and Porterbuilt!!!

Ya know, I am a lucky guy, I thank my lucky stars everyday for having a beautiful wife, (i'll show a picture one day, the truck will never look as good as her) and for having a couple young boys' that want to help ol Pop out with the rebuild......I guess a little payback for being their car owner over the last 5 years of local dirt track racing!! Season starts on March 3rd, stay tuned. And yes, she does have a sister and she is readily available

I could relate as my wife is beyond cool about spending $$$$ in toys. Now back to your advice question I would be calling the transport company to make sure they could get the truck to nate ASAP!!!
