Stepside Bedside Differences
I have heard that the bedsides on the 73-87 trucks are the same but a few differences. How hard is it to use this series to replace the ones on a 71 SWB stepside.
I know the fenders are different but what about the rest? Is it diffrent where the cross seals are, or where the steps bolt?

The bed is the same besides the fenders and some fender bolt holes. I believe that the 73-up beds use different fender mounting holes, but it won't be too big of a deal to weld up the old holes and drill new ones for you '71 fenders.

The fender mounting holes are different, the front stake pockets are different, the front sides above the steps are different. There is enough difference to make it worth while to get the 67-72 bedsides in my opinion. They can be used but there is some extensive work to be done, if it is to look right.

Ask Palf70step, he is in the process of modding a later model stepside for his truck. You have to drill new mounting holes, fill in the old ones and add a piece at the step cuz the later step is up higher on the bed.

You also need to move the crossmembers or get new bed strips for 73 up
