Hey guys 46 sway bar need some advice!

First off Thanx to all you guys who reply! So over the last couple of months I have installed a Scott's IFS in my 46. After the recommendation of Justin I also ordered a sway bar. Well the first sway bar I got was way to long, so I had Justin ship me another one. Supposedly this is the right bar for my truck but it still looks way to long. I was under the impression that the bar should be mounted in the channel under the radiator cross member. If you look at the pics thats where I have it temporarily clamped.
This also poses a second problem. As it currently sits the end of the bar and the bung are on the A-arm are in parallel. To hook the two up I have a heim joint that is nearly 3 1/2" long. Once the heim is installed it will push my sway bar up at nearly a 45% angle.

I guess my questions are...
1. Is this where the sway bar belongs or should I move it forward to make up for the length, or just cut the ends, re-thread it, and use it in this position. If I do move the bar forward I will have to cut the *#$@ out of the cross member.

2. Will the sway bar even do it function with it pointed up at such a steep angle?

Their product, their instuctions?

I would talk to scotts first see what they say or if all else you could push it more foward it wouldn't look right but would work i think.

Its from Scott's, they told me it goes right where I have it clamped (under the radiator cross member) problem is, this is the second one they have sent me I am beginning to think they don't even know.

First I would consult with Scott's, I have never bought anything from them but I have talked at length with them over some products. They seem to know the products they develope.

1. Did you weld the crossmember in the right location. If you welded the main crossmember in to far foward this could be causing some of the complication.

2. The sway bar ends are starting to get short, looks like your going to loose the leverage in the device.

3. The attatchment points are very close together. The bar needs to stay parrallel as much as possible.

These are the things I had problems with when Installing my sway bar. I did a ton of research on mine and fought thru it like you are doing. Good luck, Scotts is going to have a solution most likely. It is just going to take communication and patience. It is all custom when it comes down to it.

Feel your pain, you should not have to deal with theses issues. I have had things like this happen way to many times from all sorts of suppliers. I agree with everyone else to contact Scotts as I have had good luck with them.

The cross member is in its correct location. Wheels are centered in the wheel wells. I think the problem lies more in the fact that the 46 has a short frame past the cross member, and the fact that it slopes down towards the bumper mounts. I am sure there is a work around I already have my eye on another sway bar from another manufacturer that's really trick if I can't get this one to work.

Getting it closer just waiting on some frame extensions from Scottshotrods so I have some more meat on the bone to mount the carrier bushings!
