Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

1000? Looks like over 1600 to me?

and like WOW.....even I can weld better then that!

headers look great. looks like you had to come in from the top?
how do they fit underneath?

buy like a flowmaster universal kit in galvanized steel. or s.s., your choice. BTW...this has an "H" pipe which is good, or even better find a x-pipe version if you have the room. X -pipe cured a torque loss in my C3 after putting 2.5" true duals on it. even sounded better.
Put it together with either cheap clamps and take it to get welded later...or do it permanently with band clamps. All you need is a saw/cut off and a file or something to clean things up to slide together easier. Just choose the mufflers you'd like to run. For me, I prefer a turbo muffler type (Magnaflow vs a chambered (Flowmaster) muffler. I'd go at least 2.5" pipe for duals....or 3" if you've got the room and like a deeper tone. How far back do you plan to go, all the way out below the rear bumper? Or out the sides behind the rear tires?

Flowmaster/815937

I bought the galv. then found the s.s was only a few bucks more.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

The 1000 posts was on this thread. Yes they both dropped in from the top. They fit very well underneth. The would clear trans ear if i had not already halked it off to fit f-body headers. Clears trans link great. Passenger side is real close to the schakel but looks like it will clear. With old 350 my headers hit the schakels. I am not gona try a do it my self kit. It will come out bad. I just know it. Hope i can make it to the exhaust shop to get them connected with out a ticket due to blowing the hole test fit thing.....

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

How far can do you have to go? Can you make your EFI run open loop since your O2 sensor isn't installed? I can check a box with my holley system and it will just use the fuel map and not adjust for actual O2 in exhaust... If not you might have a heck of a time keeping it running if it pours the fuel to it once it warms up and tries to go into closed loop operation.

Installed collecters and o2 sensors read now some atleast. It is running way way way rich. It pounds the cheast pretty good too. One of my favorite feelings.

Sounds nice.

Reminds me of when I ran my Camaro open headers after first getting it put together. It knocked things off the wall in the neighbors place and the tools on the floor boards were bouncing 2" off the floor. Amazing sound but tough to hear anything else around you. I drove it that way to the muffler shop. You should have seen the look on peoples faces.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well not a big update but something. I wired in my duel fans properly insted of getto style. 1 fues and 1 relay per fan. Took forever cause i had to do everything. Had to crimp connecters to wire and install them in fues holder and cut all wires to length. I did not get a kit. I just ordered all the termanals i need and made it all brand new. I hope i get my exhaust done soon. My dad will be here the 28th and would like to have it ready for him. He had one when i way younger.. Then my brother had one now i have one. (mine is the coolest one i am sure) Last week the guy told me 2 weeks so next week end i hope he will come get it.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Tryed my hand at some welding today at my brothers house. It is the first time i have ever tryed it. My dad also tryed. My weld is the last 3/4 of the weld. Tryed to weld with the thing standing up at the last part that is why it looks so bad. Then my brother turned the wire speed all the way up and really screwed it up for me. Kinda fun i guess. We did ruin some nice bumper brackets tho....

Yes it is about a 30 min drive to his shop and i didnt want to get ticket so he came and got it. I have heard his exhaust work is amazing so i am really hoping to see it soon. He is the same guy that did both my axles. Builds drag cars for a living. Wish i could work with him.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well finally drove buddy with headers and new exhasut. It sounds amazing. The video is just a crap one for now. It does not have a h or x yet. The shop that did it did not have the parts to do it correct we a gread to put it in later on. But it sounds exactly how i want it to. I will be adding a h pipe tho. Sorry about the fuel pump noise. Will get better video this weekend. His work is amazing. It is beautiful. He was doing a duel 3.5 inch with x pipe in a new charger when i was there and he was finishing the x and it is amazing. VERRY happy with how it turned out.

Re: 85 burb meets 6.0 lq4

Well i just had to go to my work and let a trucker swap trailers so i snaped a few pics. Also on the way home i flowtested my exhaust pretty good. Some punk kid and his lifted trash can sized exhaust dodge thought he would pick on poor old sububan. Well this night he picked the wronge one. In my town we have a section of two stop lights that are really close to gether. The first one he put his pipe close to my window and made it really loud. Second light we came to a stop and i knew he was gona try something. So i shifted my trans to 3rd so it shiftes firmer and the light turns green and i pace him untell i know he is trying to race me and i hammer down on mine. His is already at full boost so he is maybe half truck length ahead and by the time i am half way threw 2nd i am half lenght ahead of him. I stay in it tell i am sure he knows he lost wich was about 75-80 mph. I am about 1.5 lenghs ahead at this time. I am sure he was very surprised he just got spanked buy a old burb. If i would have punched it off the line i bet he would have neve even got any ahead and i would have had 2+ lenghts on him. I was very very surprised at the outcome. That makes buddy 2-0 on his race record i think.

Exhaust looks and sounds great! Those bends are super smooth, looks like no crimping at all.

Took the ole burb out for it first cruse in many months. Ran great. I adjusted my accel fuel setting to +2 and it seems to like it. My little girl is finally ok with riding in it agian after a few tears. She used to love it. Then she hated it now she likes it again thank goodness.
