How dificult to replace bat and cables? '07 Silverado

Dealer just quoted me $650.00 to replace my battery and cables. I thought I'd try it myself. How difficult is it? The dealer said the battery cables are tough to get to and yada yada yada....

I was thinking I'd go to a different dealership to buy the cables, but if I need GM certification to this job, then my truck will become a lawn ornament for about 2 - 4 months while I save up the coin.

Thanx in advance
Dano

They didn't say, on the invoice it just said both cables needed to be replaced.

I would try replacing just the battery first and see where that gets you.

I replaced the battery on friday, it was ez. I can't understand why the dealership wanted to charge me $268 to change the battery. I figure if it gives me trouble I'll replace the cables. Thanx for your help.

Your battery cable terminals need to be taken apart & cleaned, The dealer is there to make money......Off You!!!

If you came in to my shop....I could get you out for about $200.....That includes a NEW Interstate battery.
