And FINALLY - my new Wilwood master cylinder has taken the place of that tired, rusty, ugly stocker than kept ruining my engine bay shots!!! Keven's gotta figure out how he wants to run the brake lines & where to install the proportioning valve - again, he wants to keep it really clean looking & not just have tubes everywhere...

Keven said he likes those Bussman fuse/relay boxes so much that he's gonna order some for his truck & their projects down the road as well - very high quality product!!!
He also located my LED conversion kit for the taillights & ordered the remainder of the rear lighting in LED bulbs. He had to buy new taillight housings as one was cracked & went ahead & also bought new lighting pigtails - all from LMC. He's still having issues with getting some tech support on the ididit module wiring for the power locks & all, but he's pretty sure he's got it figured out. Mario will most likely get those headers modified & back to Keven sometime this next week & I'm pretty stoked to finally get that whole issue resolved... Everything taken in as a whole, we're getting closer & closer to getting this thing fired up for the first time!!! Talked with Trevor about the tuning - one of the tuner's he uses a lot has been doing a LOT of Mast Motorsports motors lately (as that's what a lot of the guys for King of the Hammer's ran) - so he has the experience with it & also the software on-hand. All he's gotta do at first though is to make sure it isn't running bad for general purpose - later we'll strap it to a dyno & do a final tune. |

I didn't notice it at first in the pics or in Keven's email, but he got in the later model wiper motor & got it all bolted in place so it looks like my intermittent wiper issues are just about over - only the switch left to go...

Well I think I may finally have my Wife convinced... Have been wanting her to get a new Chevrolet Volt for some time & she finally drove a top of the line model on Saturday & really liked it thankfully!!!
That's her Caddy SRX sitting beside it - it's even a dead match for color... She needs to get something like that to offset the mileage this truck is going to get when I start driving it regularly! She works in town so with charging it at night she'd barely use any fuel every month!!! We'll see what the dealer comes up with on the numbers. Ready for the new week to arrive & to see what Keven can get done!!! |

I haven't heard much good with the Volt around here. A few have burnt up, and a lot of people are having major wiring issues with them. Good luck on your new car search.

The Volt is a great car, the few people around here that own one have been very happy. The only thing I would suggest is before the warranty is up, trade it in on a new one. You don't want to be out of warranty if those electronics go down, $$$$. If they go bad, just buy a new car, because the amount it'll cost to replace those batteries is going to be insane.

they just temporarily stoped production on volt for a month or two so demand would catch up with supply....so make sure you work them hard on numbers...

Appreciate all the comments guys!
I've done a LOT of research on this car & feel very comfortable buying one. The whole supply/demand thing is gonna help with getting the numbers where I want them - bottom line is that they need to sell me a car MUCH more than I need to buy one!!! And on the warranty - my Wife hasn't had a car for more than two years in about as long as I can remember.... I'm getting with Keven on the wiper motor information for the one he used on the truck & I'll post the information once I get it from him. |

According to Keven, the wiper motor is a stock one for the 78-84 model trucks (new from LMC). They came with the intermittent option & used both controls - the dash & column mounted. We are retaining my dash mounted version.

Keven finally got the whole power lock issue sorted out - turns out the controller box got "fried" early on & that's why it hasn't been working for him - the company had him send it in (they're in Folsom) & will fix it. Should have that back by the end of the week, so maybe next week he'll have it all working!
He got the brake lines run & the proportioning valve mounted along with all of my taillights & related wiring. He'll be sending me a bunch of pics tomorrow of the progress so check out the update then!!! |

Here's a shot of the air box cover getting test fitted - gonna be freakin' sick looking when it's all said & done!!!
If you're curious as to why the cover looks all "cloudy" - it's because it's still got the protective film on it so it won't get all scratched up. I do however have another one already made just in case that ever happens! May save it for shows & use one for daily driving & all. OPINION TIME EVERYONE: What do you guys think about me maybe adding some LED lighting inside the air box (hidden underneath the air filter or around the inside lip) & some underneath the intake plenum? Maybe some red LED's to accent the other colors on the truck. I think it'd add a nice touch without being too "over-the-top", but don't wanna come off as "import tuner-ish" either.... |

Here's what Keven ended up fabricating for mounting the proportioning valve right next to the master cylinder. I think it turned out really nice & will make it nice & easy to get too for making adjustments too!!!
You'll notice the brake switch missing from the front of the valve now - that's because the late-model pedal assembly we used already has one built into it & we used it instead. |

Keven's still working on trying to find someone that sells the wiring pigtail for the new wiper motor we got & not having too much luck so far...
Also still needs a few push-lock fittings to get the rest of the fuel lines run to the "test tank" so he can be ready to fire the engine once Mario returns the headers for a test fit & then they get final welded. He did find a SWEET wiring bulkhead for the firewall - he'll have to wire it up, but it screws onto a bulkhead fitting for easy removal if needed & should look really clean too! Were inching closer & closer to getting this thing fired up for the first time - think when that happens I'll finally begin to see over the mountain top & rest a little easier knowing we're on more of the "down hill side" of the build... |
