Changed from 9.5 semifloat 4:10's to 10.5 fullfloat 3:73's. Much better, takes longer to shift out of first now, yeah!

Re: What did you get done daylight savings time edition 3/11/12
I removed the hood on my shorty and just got back from taking the old dry rotted tires off my rally rims. Hopefully I can get the rims out to my sandblasting / powdercoating guy and keep things moving.
I love this weekly thread........... It keeps me motivated and keeps my progress moving forward. I'll try and start posting pics along with my posts. RIZ |

Job, weather and life in general got in the way, so nothing. Knackers hauled off the old cab on Friday, does that count?

Re: What did you get done daylight savings time edition 3/11/12
Changed oil and oil filter, which turned out to be quite the ordeal. I'm too low now to slide the pan underneath, so I had to remove the front air dam to have enough clearance to be able to drive it up on my ramps. Got it all done after I realized that, though.
As a bonus, I grabbed an air filter I've had on the shelf for 5+ years and it exactly fit my stock air cleaner. |

Re: What did you get done daylight savings time edition 3/11/12
Wired int the cab corners with new monster speaker wire...Ran a true memory wire direct to the battery, ran all new wires to all audio...Including soon to be mounted kick panel speakers... Also installed my new slim mount Pioneer sub and box so I will be able to move the bench back
Did my first welding ever on inner fenders I got from pull a part with a 90 AMP flux core mig welder...Yeah it looks nasty but its a first...Also cleaned and coated one of the fender with undercoating... Mounted the CD plater with the metal metra bracket directly to the metal dash. Cut the dash bezel to fit over it when reinstalled and just pop the stereo ring on.. Also replaced the inline fuel filter which fixed issue with the carb

Re: What did you get done daylight savings time edition 3/11/12
Replaced drivers door jamb switch so the dome light comes on when I open the door AND changed fuel filter on the quadrajet.....as an added bonus the gas inlet no longer drips gas on the intake due to using gasoline safe Teflon tape on the threads. Small things are sometimes very appreciated. Lol

Re: What did you get done daylight savings time edition 3/11/12
Not as much as I wanted but every little bit helps....
I got my old tires that were pulled off the Alcoa's I sold to rs72z for his CC project onto some replacement wheels. I was pretty happy that the most weight required for balancing was only 1.5oz which is pretty decent for such a tall/lg set-up (rears are 235/85-16's). I also got the front half of the new exhaust completed. I needed to 100% confirm placement & alignment so I can continue w/the remainder of the system. I'm building it in a 'modular' fashion so if/when the dually goes from lwb to swb, all that is required for the exhaust is a section gets un-fastened, shortend the appropriate amount, & then re-connects to the existing flanges (similar to my 'H' pipe arrangement). A couple pics of the replacement wheels when they were on a buddies shop truck (nothing special) & a few of the exhaust. I did all the fab work & tacked everything but had one of the contract welders @ my work do the final welding because of time constraints (his welds don't require clean-up while mine would have). A big thanks to my good friend & board member 'MattA' for his help w/swapping all the tires around....

Replaced my passenger side fender. Also swore at it because it's leaking oil like the BP deepwater horizon.

Re: What did you get done daylight savings time edition 3/11/12
My Dad and I shaved the rear cab seam, painted my 73 gmc grill, straightened out a new goodmark hood that i bought dirt cheap because it sat outside and wire wheeled it down, now to strip it down to bare metal and prep it. filled up the tank not much fun any more but still cant resist to cruise around listening to oldies
