Re: Project: Turbo 250

Thats the plan! I really like those LED's all the way around, Thanks for the link! I think I will make a full face paint to match plate to cover the black plastic part and to set the marker flush to the rest of the panel.

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Price? I've known of a guy that had an ElCamino that ran it, but didn't ever get to talk to him about it. How does it compare to gasoline? Money to install, power loss/gain, and economy? I'm curious myself.......

On another note, do you think by looking at pics of my truck that it is the same color as yours? Again, curious.

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Yeah, I have been through them all a few times. For sure that is the same color!

As far as the propane, As I understand it, it is like running a higher octane fuel. The a/r changes to about 9.5:1 and gallon for gallon it is about 12% less efficient. HOWEVER at $1.60/gallon compared to $4+ per gallon... that less efficiency is negligible when you look at cost to run. The lines and carb and intake piping I am looking at around $500 and the tank is about $500 as well. If I got rid of the current fueling system that I have which is all still brand new, I could probably get around $650-700

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Hmm.....Sounds like propane's the way to go! Maybe we should all convert!
Thanks on the color thing, just not familiar with it. Good to know. Now trying to decide whether to keep it or go with the more orange/copper color. Decisions, decisions.......

Re: Project: Turbo 250

I have the PPG mix formula for the Copperhead orange color if you want it.... I wanted to paint my truck that color for a while but I think I will save it for my next build...

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Well after enough research to make anyone's head spin If I wasn't going to use this truck to go across the nation, I would put propane on in a second. The ONLY thing keeping me from doing it is fill up stations.

On another note then, I did get my meth injection stuff ordered from Alcohol Injection Systems. Great people to deal with Rodney there is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Re: Project: Turbo 250

I really like the direction that your truck is being built. I think it is awesome that you are using the I6 and turbo. Keep up the great job on your build. I want to do a blow thru set up some day, but I plan on using C and S Specialties set up and maybe a ProCharger instead of a turbo. Anyway, I love what you are doing here!

Re: Project: Turbo 250

C & S makes a great carb and they have awesome customer service... I just cant afford one So I modified my double pumper to be a blow through, Normally you would take the choke horn off, but since I would still like to have a choke as I will be using this as a daily driver, I left it on.... The amount of boost that I will loose because of it is negligible.

Now if my ARP head studs and push rods would come in I could start bolting this thing together, they are already over a week late!!!!

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Don't worry I already got it. Man, I know I'm a ways out from painting, but still can't decide between copperhead orange, factory, or maybe even some other custom burnt orange or coppery color. I even like the burnt orange color on the new 'Vettes. Have thought about temporarily spray bombing due to my clear coat or getting a gallon of factory color in a cheaper single stage. Wonder how much that'd run me?

Yeah, didn't think about filling the propane. That would be a PIA. The guy with the ElCamino I mentioned before owned a small business right next to a propane tank/filling place! How convienent right!

I hate when stuff doesn't come in when you expect it to! I'm sure you'll let us know when they do and you get it together!

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Hmm....hate to put even that much into a "temporary" paint job. Maybe I'll just wait or spray bomb if it's killin' me. Sorry for takin' up so much of your build thread! Just suprised to see another truck my color. But lovin' your build all around. Keep up the good work man.

Re: Project: Turbo 250

Well not to much to update other than I tore apart the whole front end and cut the ends off the sway bar so they dont touch the bags and repainted the bar. And got the center link installed like it should have been the first time! Now she will actually sit right on the ground when you let all the air out!
