Just curious.....how expensive have you heard it is to upgrade to power steering?

Depending on what engine you have and what is available in your local wrecking yards, you should be able to do it for $150.00 or less.

Re: steering issues 1966

I bought the adapter plate from CaptFab and had the rest of the parts laying around between my place and my folks place. Really easy to complete also. Well, I guess that is a relative statement depending on your skill. That said, I am not the most experienced, but I am willing to jump in and try just about anything once. Twice if I like it.

Re: steering issues 1966

If your hoses have the inverted flare fittings, then it is a '68-'80. If it has metric with an O-ring fittings it is a '81-'87 (to '91 for the R series)

Re: steering issues 1966

John,
What years gear boxes will work with this adapter plate? I picked one up out of an 85 or 86. Steering column is out of an 81 (tilt/automatic). Drilled the plastic out on the shaft to let it slide for adjustment. And can I use the pitman from the same year as the gear box to hook to my steering assembly? Looks like that in a post I saw of your adapter plate to someone.

Re: steering issues 1966

Any C10, C20 or C30 power steering box from '68-'87 will work. Yes you will want to use the pitman arm for the box you are using.
