I inherited a 78 square with just the motor and tranny in the truck everything else is in the bed. So do I start putting intake manifold then carb or exhaust or do I hook up carb 1st then disturbator.........

Is the engine mostly together? Do you just have to put the intake manifold on? I think you need to expand on exactly what you need to do.

Lots of help available I am sure with more info.

Re: what steps? check list?

Put the balancer on with the pulley and water pump, and exhaust manifolds. Then put the carb on, put the thermostat and housing on. Prime the oil pump. Then make sure the engine is at top dead center on cylinder #1, and drop the distributor in making sure the rotor is facing the front of the engine. then you can turn it over and set the valve lash if you need to. Then do your plugs and wires, and fuel pump, valve covers, and the rest of the accessories
