Unhappy Issue with paint on side trim

I have some aftermarket re pop trim on my 70 model. It has been on the truck about a year and the paint is starting to chip off. Has anyone run into this issue, and if so how did you fix it? Application? Paint type?

Also, has anyone totally removed the black paint from their side trim? How would that look?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Issue with paint on side trim

this is a common thing do to the fact that the part should have had a metal etch primer on the part before it was painted . use a etch prime and then paint with trim black and it should last a lot longer
