Computer mount
Where is everyone mounting their computers? I have been trying to figure out the best place to put the computer.

Re: Computer mount
I have a driver side aux battery tray in my K5 and I hide the pcm and tac module underneath it. Other than the wiring loom, they are completely out of site. However, on my c10 I will probably just mount it on the driver side inner fender for simplicity and easy access.
I redid my own wiring harness and did not extend the wires for them to reach into the cab...

Re: Computer mount
I am relocating mine from the DS fender to the heater box on my firewall, along with the cruise module and some insulation. I am hoping I can get the wiring so it cannot be seen.

Re: Computer mount
There's a bracket mounted to the battery tray on most trucks. Couple of bolts to pull it out- can probably modify it to work in your application.

Re: Computer mount
drivers side kinda behind the headlight area, there is venting there so it gets airflow, and its rubber isolated on the bottom and again on the top with the rubber latch.

Re: Computer mount
Mine is mounted on the inside of the firewall behind the gauge panel. You can see the bottom of it if you look below the headlight switch. It was totally hidden from sight once the a/c vents, etc. were installed.

Re: Computer mount
fuelinjenctionconnection did it. Told him what I was looking for, and what parts I was running and he had it to me in about 2 weeks. Came with the new fuse box (sans the goofy cover i put over it) and the wire and connector quality was very high.

Re: Computer mount
Cool, thinking about doing an aftermarket harness to get my PCM where I want it.

Re: Computer mount
I have totally re-vamped my whole harness to put it in the cab. I disconnected all the wires from the computer connectors and drilled a hole behind the intake to hide all the wires. My altenator, TB, and MAF route under the intake and my coil packs and injectors are on the inside of the fuel rail. Don't mind all the pink wires, I am still working on that.
My computer will be mounted where the old ESC computer was mounted.

Re: Computer mount
I used the factory fuse box(cut and modified) and drilled holes in the bottom to mount the cut and modified plastic pcm mount to it. You can see the top of the factory cover on the left of the fusebox in this pic.

Re: Computer mount
Nice! This is how I did my last one. Are you having to lengthen/shorten any wires? Are you running a MAF?

Re: Computer mount
chevydrivor73, My 82 I mounted mine behind the glove box in the cab. Had to trim a couple of fins down to get it to sit like I wanted it to. Added some heavy duty velcro to it and stuck it up to the top of the fire wall above the heater box.I went thru the factory hole in the firewall. I used a factory harness and had the lengthen a few wires to move it there. I used a rubber grommet from the truck I parted out to finish out the hole. Worked out great and really kept under the hood cleaned up. Heres a couple of pictures.
