Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I haven't done much, still taking parts off as opposed to putting them on. So I took pics. My plan is to pressure wash it this weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I went out to the garage and looked at the rust damage on my '67 cab which is located under the cowl and just shook my head and left confused. This is nothing unusual for me since this is the first truck I have tried to fix with so much rust.
Decided what the heck, might as well go to my son's house and see how he was doing on restoring the '68 GMC swb fleet and to have the evening meal with them. When I got there he was just getting back from test driving the truck, it was not running right so I watched him adjust the carb. After eating we decided what the heck, might as well put the hood on since it was the last piece of the sheetmetal to go on after painting. I had never adjusted one myself so I learned it takes time, patience and a lot of adjusting if you have taken a truck all the way apart and painted each piece individually.

Most people probably would have just got another cab, but since I wanted to learn how to repair rust we cut out rust and put on at least 12 repair pieces. I am lucky because my frame was cleaned by a PO who never finished the build. All I have to clean up is the front cradle and firewall.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Here is a few pictures of the '67 swb GMC I helped my son put the hood on yesterday.
My son is in the background of one of the pictures taking a picture with his cell phone.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well its time to work on the grill. I removed the center and coated it with oven cleaner. Wow that stuff works great. I have sanded it down with 600 grit where scratches were bad and now I am sanding it with 800 grit, wet sanding the whole way. I think I will go with 1000 grit and see how it looks. I am putting the windshield and slider in this weekend. Should be stasrring the truck next week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Guess I did not know you could sand the grill to shine like that by wet sanding using 800 to 1000 sand paper....looks nice good job.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
It still needs to be buffed. I painted around headlights today and working on plastic grill. Anyone know if I should paint leading edge of plastic grill.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
The driver side lock mechanism was stuck so I lubed everything and found a broken spring in the door handle. The lock & handle work fine now even with the busted spring.
Next up is a headlight warning buzzer (NAPA 7821637).

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Decided it was time to tackle some tranny leaks! I have been working on these trucks for years but transmissions are one place I'm very weak at , that said I'm very happy with the result. The truck is a 71 C-20 402/400 , leak at the modulator so I pulled it and when I called the local parts store they had one in stock and it was $6 so that was a no brainer! Next came the speedo assembly, I managed to remove it without breaking anything, brought the whole thing to a tranny shop where they put all new seals in it right there and charged me $10, so both leaks were repaired the same day for under $30 without breaking anything! I know this is long winded but seldom do things go this smooth.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
yesterday I completed 90% of the new efi fuel system. I had to add a return and make some fitting/end changes, which ultimately wound up in my removing all the 1/2" aluminum tube and -8 AN fittings and s.s. hose...and replacing with -6 AN s.s. hose and fittings.
today..finish the fuel system, install a few sensors...and on to wiring!
