How to build a Roisserie
I found this on www.autobody101.com and thought I would share it. I contacted the guy that designed it and he said I could repost it as long as it was from his site so he can get credit for his work, he said other people have posted the PDF and put their name on it, looks like a good design probably more useful for car bodies than our trucks but what the heck it is another tool.

Nice!
Especially like the full cutlist so folks can do their own estimating of costs before diving in. Thanks for the thread and links Frankie!

Re: How to build a Roisserie
I built this one from a plan I bought online from a guy calls his company Red Wing Steel Works. Came by it in a google search. I built it to put my 69 camaro on but decided to break it in with this 72 cab first, works awsum and allows me to push the cab in and out of the garage to be able to put the daily drivers in and up on the lift for maintanance and repairs. Plus it lets me turn the cab nearly upside down for welding and sandblasting. Cheaper that buying and shipping a store bought one but I still invested almost $700 in steel, nuts bolts casters and paint. Plus welding rods and porta band blades and grinder wheels. I like it because the mounting parts design make it pretty universal for whatever you want to hang on it. I added the jacks after the initial build. It was like $350 for the steel,$50 or $60 for the nuts and bolts, they were big and there was a bunch.$120 for the casters,$130 I think for the jacks and like $25 for paint.

Re: How to build a Roisserie
It's got to be easier than trying to flip the cab over and with out help I would think there would be a big possibility of damage to the cab. If doing a car it would be a must have.

I completely understand how the costs can add up, I built the one man cab/bed lift and later designed dollies for a frame or bed/cab to rest on. When done it totaled several hundred $$$. Still cheaper than damaging the vehicle or worst yourself while tackling a big job like this. Have you considered renting it out to local hobbyists? I'm thinking about doing that when my project is complete. |
