Dumb move, door is latched and won't unlatch

Well, I got the drivers door latched finally and now it won't open. I've stuck a screwdriver in the outer door handle hole and pushed in the lever but it does nothing. I've tried jiggling the interior arms back and forth in different directions. I'm a little worried. Any other tips?

Re: Dumb move, door is latched and won't unlatch

Most likely the door is climbing up on the striker when it latches or is being forced down by the striker when it latches. Did you notice the door doing this? Try getting inside the cab, putting your weight down on the edge of the window opening and shove out with latch released. If this doesn't work, try pushing up on door. An extra person can be helpful here. Just be careful around your new paint. Now you know why some guys install the bear claw latches.

i'd try pushing from the outside of the doors as you try to unlatch the door
new rubber can push the latch so hard it makes it tough to unlatch
also try to move your striker out until the rubbers wear in

I got this fixed. Turns out I had the post latches on the wrong side so the door striker was actually wedged in there. With a long screwdriver we were able to pry the door open and put the latches on the correct side. Whew!
