64 283 Manual trans bellhousing removal
Had a hell of a time removing bellhousing on my truck. Books didn't really help at all. So just in case anybody runs into this problem thought I'd help. It says in book to unbolt crossmember, which mine has heavy duty rivets through do not take these off. First you have to unbolt the trans from bellhousin after you pull driveshaft. Oh yeah drain engine oil first, then take off oil filter. Unbolt pressure plate from clutch, unbolt bellhousing, might have to pry a little and hammer bellhousing, and hit pins out a little to loosen bellhousing from block. Then slide clutch out, then pressure plate, then unbolt flywheel take, then you can slide out bellhousing around engine block. One question why the hell did they use rivets, WTF?!
And I didn't mark pressure plate to flywheel does this matter since it's going to be resurfaced and I bought new pressure plate and clutch, also i bought new fork it's two ends are circular instead of rectangular does this matter?
Thanks
