Re: Might be a 50th on CL
Thats a nice truck.. I wonder if the 3 on the tree will restrict potential buyers as not everyone wants a standard trans.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
And those who want a stadard don't necessarily want a three on the tree. I haven't driven one yet but they just seem harder to drive. I don't know if thats true or not but I'd be more comfortable with purchasing a 4 spd.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
I had a '69 with a 3 ott and kinda liked it, but not with 3:73's. Got quite a few looks from older fellas when they noticed me huckin that shifter up and down, prolly just like they remembered.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
Yep, us older guys grew up with 3 on the tree and that is one of the reasons I bought my black 69 CST because of the 3 on the tree.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
3ott is a nice setup to drive, especially when there is three on the seat (or four). The problem is when things wear and loosen up. Went under my truck/hood countless times to free up the shifer. If you have never driven one, seek out someone who has one and go for a spin. Took my driving test in a 3ott Chevy swb pickup.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
good eye - yes, buddy buckets in it that just need to be reupholstered. I'd be all over this if it were a shorty. But then again, it'd be a bit more than the asking price. I think what he's asking is very ver reasonable - and the body looks very straight and Bakersfield is a rust-free-zone! It's simply not allowed there... Anyhoo - what a great starting point for a resto - or it's just fine like it is, hop in and drive.
I had 3 ott on my 66 - while i kinda dug the old truck vibe (ok, rattle) that it had, I swapped out to a T5 on the floor. I like it, but, for some reason - I prefer manuals in anything up to and including a 66 model, automatics in anything after that. That's just me, kinda weird, I realize that, but I yam what I yam. I think that truck is a great deal at $6500 - I'd want to see the SPID though, to confirm anniversary status and to see if it had ANY options - he didn't mention ps, pb, etc but it does have factory a/c. |

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
I grew up on a three on 3 on the tree but I also like my 400 turbo.
A good truck at a nice price... the transmission should not affect it that much.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
I'm kinda wishing I hadn't bought my Black 69 CST as I would prefer this 68. Good chance I'm heading to LA in a couple of weks. If he/she still has the truck then I will defineatly stop and see it and maybe standing if front of the seller with cash in hand, I may get lucky and be able to buy it cheaper.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
I thought all anniversary trucks had parchment door panels, and were painted 2-toned gold/ white below the trim? Nice truck though.

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
I have been thinking I'd almost rather have a clean factory stock truck than my Blazer, which is kinda rediculous after 3 years working on it!

Re: Might be a 50th on CL
I remember my 67 LWB 307 V-8 had a 3OTT only time I could get a 307 to smoke the tires with the ol reverse to first slam.
