whos using different seats?

I am debating of putting in different seats into my blazer. I have put the 1999-20?? style gm truck/suv seat into a 71 pickup and loved them. So I have been thinking of that style seat or I have seen where some have used the 2nd row from a tahoe or suburban (same years roughly) and the right side of the seat is designed to flip forward to get into the back.

has anyone used any of these seats: pics? pros? cons?

thank you for your input

Re: whos using different seats?

A few examples. I really like them, especially for getting into and out of the back with the top on.

Cons are that the seat brackets need to be modified to sit correctly and not be too tall and they can be pricey.

80's bronco seats. Sacrilege I know. But once you slide your passenger seat up under the dash and even a very large man finds it easy to climb in the back you will be a fan.

Re: whos using different seats?

I love my seats, they are a very comfortable ride (One of 29od1 links above). My brother swapped out his seats soon after trying mine. I just wish there was room to go further back, I feel the same even with the stock seats though.

Re: whos using different seats?

i REALLY wanted to put tahoe seats in mine, i think they look awesome in these rides. but they were way expensive from the ones i found. ended up finding bucket seats out of an Audi for cheap, then i reused the original back seat and had it recovered.

Sam your seats turned out great. Are the sliders functional on your seats?

Sam,

I like your interior setup...Who did your upholstery.. Looking to upgrade my interior and I like the stitched fabric on your doors and rear panels.

Did you buy it like that or did you (or someone ) have to do that stitching work?

Also...I like the double din...Don't know if I have the ability to do that but I would love to add one to my ride

Thanks

The front seats i bought off ebay that came out of an Audi for cheap. As for the door panels, rear panels, original rear seat, tailgate, and sub box i had covered by an older guy that does it more as a hobby. I told him what i wanted and didn't want to spend over $1000 total. It turned out excellent in my opinion. but those are really old pictures, back when it was still getting put together.

The stitching i had done so it matched the front seats. theres a thread somewhere how i had it built. but the double din was a piece of cake to do. in my blazer build thread i have pictures how i did it. and its antitheft proof sorta

Re: whos using different seats?

Hey, so when you were doing the double din, would there have been room to leave the ashtray and move the double din to the top and loose the spot for the aircon vent instead?

Also what are you refering to when you say anti-theft? The head unit or the truck?

Re: whos using different seats?

I'm going with 2005 Tahoe seats. My build is in my signature.

That alone shy's me away from doing the front. Not only do I need to keep the driver side adjustable, but I wouldn't mind making the passenger side adjustable as well.

I'll have to check the spare set of 3rd row seats I have, I'm almost positive they are adjustable. There is a local fellow here that runs a shop doing handicap conversions, and literally has 100's of these seats in storage forsale from various models of SUV's. Some of these seats do have adjustable tracks.

Edit: Just checked mine, they have adjustable tracks. Both sides slide individually while still retaining their release/removable feature.

i would think there would be enough room, looks like the vent is about the same size as the ash tray. just have to cut it out above the ashtray and weld in a plate, then cut out the hole you need. but my plate warped a little bit and had to use body puddy and sand it to a smooth flat finish.

but as anti theft i mean the radio lol, in the second picture its screwed in from the sides. you have to take out the vintage air and the driver side dash to get to the bolts used.

Re: whos using different seats?

I put 4th Gen Camaro seats in my 72 K5. They are very comfortable and I think they look great. I also can't see paying the price for original seats. I was Carlisle and a company wanted 2k for a pair of seats and console. No tracks.

mine had a set of mid 70s swivel buckets, from a monte carlo-grand prix type car. they are mounted on 1 inch tubing, they are in decent condition and very comfortable
