C60, C50, C40 Differences Help
Looking at a Chevy C60 or GMC equivalent, and the seller has no paper work on it..he states it as a 60's-70's truck. I would like to nail it down. It has a larger aluminum vin tag, like a 71/72 style. I am familiar with in C10, 20, and 30's. My question is, can I identify that way...meaning 67-70 have a smaller vin tag and 71/72 have the larger tag?! Does this hold true in these big trucks? Any help is highly appreciated..

I'd think so. And,you know a '72 would have the extra prefix digit C or T.

Re: C60, C50, C40 Differences Help
Adam, If you have both the model number and the VIN number we should be able to nail it down for you. My "new" 1946-72 1 1/2 -2 1/2 ton trucks series 40-50-60 chassis and body parts catalog has extensive detailed ID tables and breakdown.

Not too sure what you are asking? Or even why!
