Talking Bad Brakes

I have a 2003 GMC 2500HD Crew cab with an 8.1 L motor. It seems i have to really press on brake pedal past half way before the truck stops. Could my master cylinder be going bad? Rubber lines going bad or ? The truck sits alot as i use it for towing which is about 5k miles a year.

Re: Bad Brakes

umm okay then you got a rubber piece somewhere going out or the master cylinder but from what i've seen is this truck don't really have great braking systems to begin with

Re: Bad Brakes

I have only 98K miles. I guess i will start by jacking it up and seeing if a rubber line is bad.

Re: Bad Brakes

A few weeks ago on my 06 2500HD, I was goming off the interstate, and went to stop and didn't have alot of pedal. I got home and jacked it up to check the brakes and found the FT hub brngs was shot, letting the rotor wobble enought to push the pads apart going down the road. Of course this made for too much travel and made my pedal crap. Truck never wandered, shimmied or shook. Replaced, and now pedal is great. Jack up the ft and see if you can shake yer wheel. Just another possibility.....

I contacted him today about it. Sounds pretty good. Of course food always sucks me in like a magnet anyway.
