Re: Project "Funky Monkey"

Yesterday I worked my butt off to get everything back on the truck so I could take her to the Caffeine and Octain car show this morning but it was pouring down rain and I didnt want to dirty up my truck and wipers havent been installed yet, so I didnt go.

Horrible thing happened last night tho... I had some of the neighborhood kids (teenagers) over helping me put the bed back on and to line the mounting holes up I needed it to be bumped over about half an inch.... so one of the kids bumped it really hard and did it right in the middle of my rear fender. It cracked my fender really bad and broke off some of the bondo used to repair it before I bought it. It REALLY sucks. I will post up a pic of it tonight. Man I wanted to cry.

I actually got out yesterday and drove her around for about an hour. The ride is very smooth but I noticed if I get on it then try to slow down really fast the truck starts to almost feel like it is going to loose control. It starts swaying side to side... I dont know if I am just not use to the sensativity of the new Rack and Pinion or if there is something wrong. I took it to a Goodyear Gemini last night to have it aligned at my ride heigth... would allignment have anything to do with that?

When it stops raining I will take her out and get you guys some videos.

Possible, toe in or negative camber can make a car feel very nervous, along with the wrong ET value of the rims, choise of tires and road surface..

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"

sounds like the front brake may be getting too much pressure and not enough in the back to keep it level under hard braking. also make sure all of your trailing arm parts are tight and not moving in the rear

I will post up what their specs were on the alignment.... That could be one thing.

Rear breaks could be it too... I have the valve adjuster on the back breaks that I need to play with. I havent touched it since I installed it so that could be a big issue too... Thanks for reminding me about that.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"

Mine did something similar when I first started driving it....wound up backing the adj. prop. valve almost all the way off the rears...much better now.

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"

I got the dakota digital dash installed over the weekend. I LOVE THIS THING!!

It actaully give you your best 0-60 time/speed and your best 1/4 mile time. This thing was well worth the money and it looks awesome. The pictures do not do it justice.

The gauges look sweet! I wish they offered more colors option or something a little closer to a stock look. How hard is it to add and additional gauge, say like "Boost" or a wideband?

Re: Project "Funky Monkey"

It is very simple... Being the rookie I am it was very easy to install.

UPDATE:

I drove my truck all day on sunday. Went to a car show and it was running fine. drove it to work them came home and parked it. Went to crank it up on Wednesday and it would not fire at all... just lock up every time I turned the key. I had it towed to My friend Joe's shop where I was able to put it on a lift, You could wiggle the torque converter and flywheel so we dropped the transmission. My buddy that helped me build the motor said he hit the flywheel bolts with an impact instead of using a torque bar and thread locker so the bolts had come loose.. we unscrewed them by hand.

While dropping the tranny we had to disconnect the exhaust from the headers and gas poured out of them, gas poured out of the cylinders after turning the fly wheel and gas poured out of the oil pan while changing the oil. Something is seriously wrong with the pressure regulator between the fuel pump and my carb. I dont really know. But Sunday wasnt a fun day. Luckily I had Joe and my brother-inlaw there to help me.
