Re: razorback red... buildup
Love the color scheme your doing. I'm slowly working on a 1964 SWB BBW truck that has a simular pattern to it. I'm doing my interior black though instead of the fawn, but really dig your color scheme!

Re: razorback red... buildup
sorry about the near worthless post, just trying to keep this thread near the top till after the bbq.
ya know, maybe some guys from oklahoma might read this and show up. cruise over for some good food and hang out a little. maybe guys from central arkansas might think its not that long a drive. southern missouri is pretty close too.... heres a couple of pics of current time body work. the pas. side bed fooled me. i thought it was a good one till the bondo was ground off. some places 1/2" thick. well hammering and shrinking and welding up all those holes, nothing to it but to do it... looks like the folks used a punch to pull from. wow |

Re: razorback red... buildup
Clem
Doesn't look like I will be able to make the trip..... Been in the E.R. and found out I not only have kidney stones in both kidneys, but a cyst on my left kidney also. I cannot find a comfortable position to sit, stand, lay, crawl..... If I pass them tonight I will be there, but I am not thinking I will move them all. Next year for sure and hopefully ol' blue will be in tip top shape by then. I brought my 327 home from the shop Wednesday night, got it on a stand in the Garage then Thursday on the way to work the kidney stones hit. Can't wait to see the build in person

Re: razorback red... buildup
and a couple of more. after this i lost the camera till too dark for more. the old car count was pretty low this year because of poor scheduling on my part, with several local shows. none of the truck guys showed from the forum but all our local friends were in their party mood. once i found the camera the tequila hour was on and pics after that were too dark and not rated suitable for this site. we had a great time and the food was unbelievable...

Re: razorback red... buildup
well, lets see... june. hot as hell outside. record heat already...
progress on red was mostly assembly. dash stuff, wiring, radiator and shroud, hoses and steering column. did spray bed liner on the backside of both fenders and did a test fit. |

Re: razorback red... buildup
also got the doors mounted and this can be nerve racking, lots of chances to scratch paint... but we got lucky. also the line between red and black was a guess at best, lowest level in the natural body line. and it was spot-on. feel like luck was with us again.
the wiring and brake lines are a snap if you got a lift. mine is older than me and still works great. i do like a center post lift. |

Re: razorback red... buildup
i appreciate it guys.
last day of june is upon us and it hotter than hades. 3 oclock and 102 in the shade... but it is the end of the month and time for an update, other than the paint and body and fun assembly stuff that happened a few posts back, the end of june was mostly about the bed. huge amount of hammering and shrinking on a bed side just to get roughed in enough for assembly. the other bed side was great but the bad one kicked my butt. used the old hillbilly jig to square up the bed... thats sawhorses and 2-bies, a few lag bolts, 4 inner fender braces from a 50 model truck and that one almost always have to have... paint stick. (ha) came out square and level... used angle iron and clamps to keep sides straight. |

Re: razorback red... buildup
the next pics show the trued bed with the new and ill-fitting tailgate. the bed front was great, fit perfect, straight. it came packed in a wood crate and was cheap compared to the tailgate which was, well, less than good. but you do what you can with what you get and i've never found a used original tailgate or bed front that didn't take more time to get right than it was worth. better to start with new on these 2 items... in my opinion.
thats it for now... back in late july, sure hope it rains soon and especially out in colorado and new mexico where the wild fires are. those folks need it bad. |

Went to Clem's today and hung out for about 4 hours..... Awesome build and I love his shop/house. I definetely see a long friendship forming here, not only for me but for the wives too. Thanks Kim for the flowers and pickles.... yes they made it all the way home without turning over.
