68 Chevy disc brakes

I bought a full front disc brake kit for my 1968 Chevy and everything seems to interchange with the old parts except for the proportioning valve. I was wondering if I need to fab some new brake lines from the proportioning valve down or is there a way to make it fit? I was under the impression everything would fit.

Re: 68 Chevy disc brakes

prop valve is different when you add disc to front or rear so new plumbing may be needed

Yeah that's what I figured. It also has three outlets instead of two now.

Not all the front dick rear drum prop valves had 3 out puts. The one I got off a 71 only had 1 for the front that ran to a "T" fitting to go the the front brake hoses.

It would seem to me if you bought a "full front disc brake kit" this should not be a question. Brakes are a very important automotive system. The installation directions should be very clear on this as far as any reused parts and needed integration modifications. If the directions don't have this, then talk to their tech people. You need to know how to complete your installation safely as they designed it.
