Found me a C60 cab finally
Usually the C60s have the better cabs on them and since i have the tendency to collect numerous pieces of junk and piece and parts haha but I bought the cab and front clip off of this truck for $200 today and ill pick it up hopefully sunday. I have some pictures from the ad. but I saved it from the scrapper.. Are the C60 cabs any different then half tons?

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
My truck has a c60 cab and the only differences are the holes in the dash and floor boards where they run more cables etc through for the 2 speed axle and the speedo gearbox...(for high and low speed rear....)... Cab mount holes etc are the same... you have to watch the spot welds on the cowl sometimes they have broken , and if it was sprung real stiff the front fender holes on the cowl vents sometimes breakout...

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
Yeah i never thought about the various holes for the 2 speed and etc. I just bought two very nice doors from a guy not to far from where i live for more then that cab and front clip. But i cant tell what it says Im going to look at it closer and see what they used to say. It was a running and driving truck with a clear title but he thought the motor was worth its weight it gold, its just a 283 i have 4 of them laying around haha

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
The C40-C60 cabs don't have a hump at all over the trans like the C30 and smaller trucks. The floor is flat from one side to the other. There is also an extra brace across the lower firewall/floor pan.

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
Extra reinforcement across the transmission tunnel. The inner fender attachment bracket is not the same. The C60 cab bracket is longer and a different offset.
In this case, the 63 C60 cab mount location retains the wider spread of the 62 below. Had to drill two new holes. Rad support cannot be easily modified to fit the C10 front end. I had saved the front of the tunnel from another truck and the 4WD High Hump was in good shape, luckily. Picture of the C60 front section of the transmission tunnel that bolts in. It's leaning against the fence, in the grass, above the cowl extensions. |

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
How simple is it to get the cab and front clip off as one? I was just thinking about cutting the cab mount bolts, rad support, and undo the steering knuckle and wiring and it would lift off as one, but i could be stretchin it a little. How did others do it?

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
I think you are better off to do it in 2 pcs.. when I bought my cab the previous owner had sawed the fenders , but we still had to undo the running boards and rear sections of the fenders to get it to fit in my truck bed (97 silverado) and of course misc cables wires etc to remove it from the frame ...I pulled my truck up to the passenger side door and 4 of us persuaded it to slide into my truck bed .... I have pics of unloading but none of removing it ....

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
Well he has a tractor and i have a trailer so thats how i would get it home. Ive hauled a cab and front clip before on it but it had half the frame. I can disconnect all the wires and whatnot and probably just cut remaining cables and probably most wires since the motor is sold and the rest is going to the scrapper. Im just trying to figure out the easiest way of doing it without taking everything apart

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
I would pull the front end and cab separately. On the big trucks the steering column and steering box are one piece. There is no rag joint as on the light duty trucks.

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
Well i got her home today. got there and he had the front clip laying upside down thankfully the hood was off of it. He had it ready to pull off the frame and his tractor he was bragging about to pick it up with was a little bit too short to pick it up lol but we got it with no damage. This guy LOVED his cutting torch too. Instead of taking the tow hooks off with a wrench when i told him i wanted them he cut them off haha but i will get pictures of it up once i get it unloaded. Shes strapped down on the trailer for the night. Pretty clan cab and thanks for the information on them guys!

Re: Found me a C60 cab finally
Hahaha well he got a little close to a few things and thought it would be a good idea to cut the fuel lines off. his words were "cant be THAT much left in them" so i was a tad nervous. But I started looking at the inside a little more and found a set of original reflectors that you set up on the road during a break down and the protection plan and manual. Pretty neat
