disc brakes
When changing to discs up front, is it necessary to cahnge the prop valve to a disc/drum one?

Yes because it takes more pressure to work the disc brakes on the front than the drums on the back.So you need to change it. The one on the drum brakes is just actually a distribution block because on a 4 wheel drum system it takes equal amount of pressure to work all 4 wheels. Make sense?

Ok so I need a new prop valve, which brings up more questions.
On the new disc/drum prop valve, will I need to rerun all the brake hard lines? i.e. is the prop valve the same as the later model trucks where each caliper gets it's own line from the prop valve? The current set up only has one line running to the front brakes that T's at the drivers side brake hose. Thanks Mike |

You should give Early Classic Ent. a call. They have the correct prop. valve to use for your setup. They also have a valve bracket and brake line adapters so you can use the original lines.
