Late 60's Dog Dish Chrome-Plated Brass??
These are the 12 inch 3/4 ton caps.
That's what the guy from Ebay told me (that they were brass). Are they? |

I have those on my '75 k20. They are polished stainless steel, no plating.

The base metal is brass and then copper plated then nickel plated then a thin coat of chrome, this is a industry standard for plating. If you check some antique cars the side trim was actually solid brass and then plated. Last edited by Sideways; 08-03-2012 at 03:16 PM. |

Yea I have a set of the later ones (I think) like this pic that are stainless with the yellow/gold bowtie.
I think they changed them around '73. Mine are the smaller ones for the 1/2 ton trucks. |

If you look at the ebay ones you can see the flat panels are wavy, this is because the brass is so soft they damage easily.

Yes the Ebay seller told me they were moderately dented.
I'ts hard to tell because they are so shiny and you can also see reflections in them. |
