Has anyone put different gas struts on their Porterbuilt hinges??
One of the problems I have with my truck is EVERYONE walks up to it and tries to "open the hood all the way". The gas struts that PB sells with these hood hinges only open the hood about half the way the original hood opens. This drives me nutz and every single person that looks at my truck comments on it.
Has anyone installed different struts on it, or struts that would mount on the side of the hood? I need to figure out something different. This is the only pic I have at the moment of how low the hood is when its fully open.

I'm in the process of making brackets for mine to open further. Just changing the struts will not help because the ones that come with the hinges sit level when the hood is closed and they are fully compressed. Putting longer struts on will keep the hood from closing all the way

Yea... What I was thinking is taking those struts off and mounting some on the sides of the fenders. But I have the slosh tubz. So I really don't have a good location for them. I need to figure something out.

The struts was the answer for people that didn't want a "prop rod".
I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
