Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
I don't really know. Looks like it must of been put under there at one time by the po because it had a spot for a stabilizer bar, which I assume would've been on a 2wheel drive with coil springs. Is there an actual difference between a 2wd and 4wd axle?

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
Thanks a lot man! It has come a little further, I just got it painted and I've picked up some cool extra parts I found on Craigslist like an original halftop and a set of buddy buckets. I'll get pics up soon!

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
Now on to restoring the top. Truck runs amazing, has lots of power! Think i'm gonna go down to 31'sx10.5 and eventually get a new steering box. She road walks pretty bad. Also, as you can see in the last pic it spits a little oil/grease out around the front hubs onto my wheels. What's up with that?

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
Looks real good, what was the order of your floor replacement? By the pics it looks like you put in new rocker boxes before cutting out the old floor, and use them to support front to the rear of the cab?

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
I lucked out on my rocker boxes. They were rust free pretty much. So I sanded them up and put a whole bunch of rustoleum and undercoat on them!

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
So I started really tearing into my floor for the the truck pan replacement, there is a frame structure in the blazer floor that is not on the truck floor that runs under the bucket seat bolts. Did you swap that structure over?

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
No I did not. Didn't see why it would need it. The main structures are the a pillars that are towards the front and the longer pillar that runs over the torsion(rocker) box on each side as well. The only reason I cold see wanting to add the other is if you wanted the extra reinforcement for you bucket seats.

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
Looking very nice. As an old sceptic, whenever I see young people tearing apart a truck or car, I think "there goes another one' it will never be finished." Sure is nice to be proven wrong on that one.

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
Thanks a lot Tom. It has turned out ok. I really love the factory look, only thing i might ever change is maybe a little beefier leaf spings. Im pretty pleased besides the paint wasnt quite as good as i'd like, me and my older brother are far from professional painters! Lol

Re: 1972 blazer tear down phase
Well that was our second ever paint job to do and the pics are a little decieving. It has some orang peel and could probably use a good buff i guess. Its metallic blue. I ordered it from eastwoods. Thanks tho!
