Question on exterior color combinations..

I recently bought a '72 GMC YE9 code Sierra Grande pickup truck. 3/4 ton 2wd, tilt, tach, rear slider, cargo lamp, side tool box. It had the AM/FM pushbutton radio but someone replaced it with a tape deck somewhere along the way and the grille is incorrect for the '72..

The truck was painted black, but originally it had a light olive top and sides between the mldgs and dark olive everywhere else.. Interior was dark olive tin, woodgrain where appropriate, parchment door panels, parchment headliner, black dashpad, column and carpet. Parchment houndstooth seat gave way to black vinyl...

The question is, did this truck come new with white wheels and chrome dog dishes?

I want to think yes, but I want to be sure... Need some input on this one.. Thanks!

Re: Question on exterior color combinations..

Your truck looks like a 3/4 ton so I would say yes.

Oops - deleted my post - wasn't paying attention - this is a GMC! Sorry. I'd like to see what the GMC 3/4 ton cap looked like - anyone got a restored or original pic?

Re: Question on exterior color combinations..

A Sierra Grandes had bright. The wheels were 6.5 x 16.5,like on Black Sheep's. The other wheels would have been 6 x 16 split rims or 8.25 x 16.5s w/10.00 hiway tires. I could have Black Sheep's wheels wrong, but that's how it's looking to me this morning . I don't think they're the wider ones. The standard 18.5s look fairly wide compared to later 16s.

Re: Question on exterior color combinations..

Ya mine aren't 10" wide (wish they were), they just look like it because of the offset
