Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I dont know man .. I really like the billets. But, I must say I'm considering the caps too. Just with big brakes and stuff it doesn't make sense anymore. It would definitely look good though.
The GMC has power drum on it now. The brakes will stand you on your nose. humm, .. big brakes on the stepper ?

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Good, bad .. what if I put a wheel similar to this on my truck? I just want something different, and as much as I want billets .. I'm still not convinced I want to put $3k into wheels. These are $240ea. They'd look cool with Big brakes too.
.. just something kinda sinister looking, and I saw the new Hit and Run movie over the weekend. I really like the wheels on the Lincoln. Does anyone know what wheel that is? This style of wheel, not nessicarily these exact wheels. They come in a silver face too. Black may look pretty cool on the black truck though.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I like em! Not sure they fit with the woodgrain, though. Black trim would work better. Maybe a grey face? I do like the direction and I'm always looking for ways to be different/cool without spending big bucks...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I could do Coys, or $2800 for some Intros .. but, I'm planning to flog this truck a little. The first time it goes to Goodguys, there are some cones in the plans. Do you really drive in the rain with $3k billets? I know, we've talked about it before. I'm just trying to weigh every option. This sype of wheel would definitely bring the old truck into the present time period. Yeah, the wheels really look better on a Corvette or M3 or something .. but take a look at this one. I saw this truck at Nashville GG and it's really saying something man. This truck just has a look about it. I wouldn't do ALL flat black, but on this truck it works (for me)
http://www.motortopia.com/streettruc.../pch-c-10-408/ http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=488990&page=2 Post 32 .. And, .. page #3. I talked myself out of it. AAAAgghh!!

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Hey Chad. Wheel selection is certainly a personal preference thing (I'm more of a classic wheel guy for these trucks) but of the two, I prefer the one on Mortotopia. I thinks it's because of the fewer spokes. Lots of spokes makes me think BMW or that type of thing. The one on Motortopia still maintains a "muscular" look while being able to get it done in the curves.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Chad just my opinion since this truck is going to be a daily driver for you, I wouldn't put billets on it unless you really feel like polishing alot. I would run Coys or something similar like the Showwheel Streeters on a daily. It would look bad ass. Then I would put the money you save on the wheels into bagging the Stepper

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I don't know fellas .. I really, really like this wheel. Silver or black, .. it's really clean looking. I just want to step out of the norm a little. I love the 5 spoke look, my S10 had TT2's and the stepper with BS 5 spokes. I just want someone to see it and go .. what the ??
PLUS, I can get the whole set for around $1,000. If they get stained, or dirty it won't be such a big deal. Summit has the fronts for $216 ea.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I like it. I think on a black truck it would be the start of a new fad.

Get them in whatever color is cheaper, then paint 'em a matte charcoal metallic. You'll be different and unique

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Probably silver.
Running a 4.5" drop up front, 20x8.5 and 255/45/20. They offer several options for backspacing in the 8.5" wheel but I think 5.5" is going to be my best choice. They have a 5" but I'd rather them tuck a little. No 5.25" BS option. With the 45 series tire maybe 5.5" BS would give me a little more room for turning. 20x10, 5.5"BS and 295/45 in the rear. 6" drop. Think it would work? Honestly, I'm kinda running out of money. I need to get this one finished up and get back on the stepper. I put my black buckets in this truck and I'm going with 2005 Dodge Ram buckets in my stepside. I'll probably do a tan leather in it, maybe black. It's going more and more billet .. so leather fits that truck anyway. I don't currently have a daily driver. If I can wrap up the GMC $2k less, that would buy my paint for my stepside.. etc. etc. Or, my bags.. As much as I would like to do billets, it just doesn't make sense on this truck. I don't have a garage for it, it has to sit outside. I'd be sleeping in it.

How's the progress on the bed? Any interior pictures with the buckets or are you waiting to finish the brackets? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
We planed the wood this past weekend, we have Northern White Oak. It's perfectly planed to 3/4" (or just a tad more for sanding) Dad is going to cut the grooves this week and final sanding / finishing. The fenders and front panel are done. I just need to paint the inner bedsides and tailgate. The interior is coming along nicely. The carpet is in, the passenger side seat (blazer flip brackets) and the driver's side adjustable and one off lowered bracket set is finished. We just need to get the other seat in, sill plates etc. I'll have some pictures shortly. I still need to get door panels and some handles .. and the interior is almost done.
Bed comes off, detailing, rear drop.. it's coming along. More to come soon. I'm going to sleep on these wheels and see how I feel tomorrow. I really think they'd look cool though.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Black centered wheels are just that.
Black. The center of the wheel pattern doesn't matter. It's black. The could be steel wheels, aluminum slots painted black, or centerline smoothies with a black center. They all look the same. Black. Go with a silver spoke if you want to show the wheel design. I'd run steelies with hubcaps before I'd run a black centered wheel. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Chad, I love the Silver wheels. They would look really good on the truck. I had those rims sizes on my Bonspeed "Clutches" before I got my new wheels. The tire sizes you have listed will work awesome as well, as I had those sizes. They are a great fit and look great in the wheel wells.
