Road dust coming into cab

My 81 crew is getting a lot of dust coming into the cab on gravel roads. This thing has a/c but nothing works anymore,no compressor & some lines are disconnected. This is the first a/c equipped square I've had so not real familiar with the system.Any other of my squares:'86,'87,and 2 '80s non air don't have this problem.I can run down a gravel road with drivers window down and little or no dust, but not with this crew. The heater/ac control is in off position also.I've had squares for 30 years and this is the only one I have had that much dust come in,the others can even run with rear slider open too.TIA

Re: Road dust coming into cab

check to make sure the housing of the ac in the engine bay is nice and tight
on the passenger side kick panel, theirs a flap(dont know the name sorry) the ones with the blower, maybe theirs a hole in your cowl area, that allows air to come in to the cab,
weatherstripping
just tossing out ideas

Re: Road dust coming into cab

Ok,will try that. This truck has sat over last winter & mice moved into heater/AC housing so it's gonna come out here soon anyway.I have a few parts trucks non a/c so this crew is gonna get a swap to heater only to get the critters and smell out for good!! Up here the heater is needed more than the ac anyways.

does the fan motor actually turn off?
i cut the low speed wire so i have an off
without the AC on the outside air is coming in
see if you can find a non- AC vent for the pass side foot area

Re: Road dust coming into cab

I tried unplugging cab fan, still dust coming in.Shoved a rag in the passenger side vent & this helped a bit.Gonna try I with a non ac vent.
