Air Ride Questions (coils to bags)

Hello all, I am getting ready to swap my drop coils for some air bags. I have the bags (fiestone 2500s) and an 8 gal. air tank. I am not looking to play much, just raise to ride height an set down at shows. What compressor do you all recommend? Should I ditch the 8 gal tank for a 5 or 3? Also, I was going to do a bolt in c notchh in the rear, and stay with factory a arms in the front. I know I'll need shock relocators all around, and an adjustable trac bar. I would like to hear tips, opinions and input, and would LOVE to see some pics of trucks on bags, but no more mods than a c notch. I want to get an idea of how low I might get. thank you all.

I would suggest ditching the 8 gallon tank. Unless you have an EDC (engine driven compressor) you'll be pumping air into that thing forever. I'd go with a 5 gallon, heck if you don't plan to play with them much you could probably get away with a 3 gallon. For these trucks I would also recommend a bigger airbag, like the #2600, or something equivalent to that size.

I had heard that a lot of people use 2600s, especially on the front. I found a good deal on the 25's, and thought since my truck is one of the lighter ones, short step w/6 cyl, I would try them out.

Porterbuilt makes some nice stuff, it just seems to be really expensive.

It's not so much about the weight capacity. It may seem counter-intuitive, but with a larger bag you'll need less PSI to achieve the same amount of lift as you would with a smaller bag. The lower PSI equates to a lower spring rate which equals a better ride.

As for the Porterbuilt products, they may seem pricey, but I think you get a much better value for your money compared to other manufacturers.

I won't disagree that some aftermarket parts are priced inconsistently (bags from one place $95ea; same brand @ another place $65ea), but Porterbuilt offers great products @ a reasonable price. Not the cheapest on the block, but still reasonable for what you get.

To many, quality & support when needed are worth that expense. I recall more than 1 guy choosing a knock-off 'raised crossmember' that wound up going to Porterbuilt for support (and, Porterbuilt helped them!). How many companies would do something like that?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Air Ride Questions (coils to bags)

I am thinking about putting the stuff I have (bags and tank) on CL and just starting over. I really want the Porterbuilt stuff, and no more work than I need to do to the rest of the truck, I should probably spring for it. I tend to overthink my spending sometimes.
What do you all recommend doing on the front end? I just totally rebuilt it (less than 500 miles) and i hate to ditch it, and I doubt I could sell it.

Never hurts to try & sell it especially if you have receipts to show minimal age.
