C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
I spent some time in the local junkyard today. Scored a decent looking push-button radio for my '87 stepper. On my search I ran across a very straight front bumper on a '79 C10 work truck. Will it fit on my '87 Stepside?

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
its not the correct bumper, you can make it fit but look for 81-87 (81-91 for suburbans, blazers and crews)

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
Found one suburban an one blazer from that era but their bumpers had that wide rubber strip and push bars. This c10 one looked sharp. White painted but could plainly see it was over chrome. Who knows. Maybe I can find one up in Richmond this weekend at the swap meet. Something plain chrome and classic.

I would get the burb/blazer one. If you don't want the pushbars take them off and get some chrome bolts to fill the holes in.

GM-Power: the one on your truck looks good. Something like that I keeps the classic look. The deal breaker for me was the rubber strip on the ones I saw today. Patience I guess.

Do you not like bars or just the insert?

Can't say I blame you. Push bars look cool and aggressive. The impact strips...not so much.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
Push bars look ok. The horizontal rubber strip looks wrong for my truck. Nobody guesses it is an '87. Trying to keep the older vibe. I may just end up doing the LMC Truck thing for a plain bumper with no holes.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
Sorry for my poor comprehension lol. It would be cool to fab something up to replace the insert.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
Do you not want thaw holes for the push bars on your bumper? All the bumpers come with those holes.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
The holes I want to avoid are the small ones for the rubber trim strip.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
I think you would be more happy with finding a OE bumper than getting a thin LMC one.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
I've seen that complaint on these forums a lot. I hope I have the opportunity to find an OEM one. Only two wrecking yards close by so I'll have to get lucky on Craig's List or travel to a better boneyard.
I started down the slippery slope of improvement with the new vinyl MIP floor and stainless mirrors. Next up dash and bumpers. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
I have the older sport bumper on my 87, I like the look much better. And really 99.9 of the people don`t know the difference.

Re: C10 bumper on 87 stepper?
Sluggish:
Today I hit Oceana and the Pick n Pull on Sykes. Oceana picked real clean. Looked like they scrapped more appliances than vehicles. PnP had a handful of old GM trucks and vans. Mostly newer stuff. I am happy with my DELCO radio I got, but it took a Monte Carlo for the knobs, a Le Sabre for the radio and a truck for the bracket and antenna cable. For $16 I did OK, I think. One day I will get over to Hampton or Carrolton to visit yards. Posted via Mobile Device |
