Need pic of tach wire through firewall

Does anybody have a picture of the correct location of where the tachometer wire should come through the firewall? Mine comes out with the speedo cable I'm sure this is not right. Thanks

I'll look.

This is where Nate drilled the hole on his '69.
Were there different locations for different year trucks?

Re: Need pic of tach wire through firewall

The Assembly Manual shows different routings (I think two) for the wire depending on the year. The location above appears correct for 72. As I recall (don't have the manual here) it shows the wire passing through one of the grommets near the distributor for at least the 69s and earlier. I think it's the grommet the oil gauge line passes through.

If someone has other definitive info regarding the original factory routing for the 69s I'd be very interested.

I just drilled one today, the above pic is correct. I checked a 72 GMC W/tach before I drilled

As I noted above in post 5, the Assembly Manual shows it going through an existing grommet (I think the one the oil line goes through) for the 69s and, I believe, the 67s and 68s as well. I don't have the assembly manual with me, but I can double check in a couple days and post that info.

It would be great if owners of 69 and earlier trucks equipped with tachs from the factory could confirm if this is what was actually done. I plan to put a tach dash in my 69 and would like to know also.
