66 GMC Short Step build for daughter
I guess I will start my build thread. Its gonna be a long process so please have patients. I got this truck and a 63 longbed in a swap from a buddy. Traded the 63 for a 84 GMC and a little cash to another friends for his son. Put the 66 on the flatbed trailer and pulled it back and forth by the road a few days with a for sale sign until about the 5th day when my (11 yo at the time) daughter said "Daddy I want that truck". I looked around and said "What truck" and her response was "The yellow on on the trailer", which my response was "Really" and she responded "Yeah it cool like the old truck that Bella drives on Twilight". My chest blew up with pride that my babygirl wanted a classic truck so she got it. Ive had about 10 people try to buy it now and could have made about 15 times what I have in it but I already promised it to my daughter. I told her that she was going to have to help with it or she didnt get it and she said "OK". So she is now 13 and we have started the project and have to admit that babygirl is pretty good with powertools and can figure mechanical things out pretty well. Our first day got the entire front clip removed, front suspension and steering gear box removed, and 84 front suspension bolted under. Pretty good for a chick that had never used an impact gun and all that in about 5 hours with a sandwhich in between (and a cold beer for dad).

Outstanding! Looks like a nice straight truck to start with, and there's nothing better than having an enthusiast son or daughter invested in the project.

Re: 66 GMC Short Step build for daughter
I've checked out both of yalls threads before I started my own and am impressed with your rides as well. Thank you both for stopping by and leaving a comment.
I purchased 2 door windows and a set of uncut, un rusted out inner fender wells from a very nice gentleman yesterday. I only needed one of the glasses but for $80.00 for it all I couldnt pass it up. I got the glass installed so no more trash bags and duct tape to keep the rain out. Captfab is going to be my supplier for the necessary power steering box bracket and brake booster braket after I get the frame sand blasted and start putting her back together. Then we will start body panel repair.......................hate body work.

The one thing I love above all else on this board aside from the wealth of information and ideas, is the non critical approach the peoople here take to a build. Purist - Pure Mod.... dont matter. Everyone here is always positive and encouraging, and that speaks volumes to me !! Hope you enjoy your build, and you take plenty of time to share it with us too !!
