Anyone ever try.......

Getting ready to pull the body off my 72 Blazer. Planning on a bunch of frame and suspension work first, but then somebody work after that. Just wondering, has anyone ever tried lower the floor ahead of the rear seat like the newer Blazers? Just want to create some leg room for anyone ever sitting back there. In my head it looks easy, after further inspection it will be a bit tougher than I thought but still doesn't look too bad. I'm running a 3" body lift so clearance shouldn't be an issue and don't have carpet so that wonn't be a problem either.

Once I get started on this project, I'll have to start a build thread.

Hmm, 85 looks and no responses. I guess I AM crazy. Still going to give it a try. If it doesn't work I can always weld it back in the origional spot.

How far are you trying to drop it? Yes please start a build thread on it, I'm curious.

Re: Anyone ever try.......

Just thinking level with the front floor (like the later models). It's not more than 4 inches or so, just thought any would help.

I have often thought about this then I thought it would be too much work and "I" would not be the one that benefited from it anyway. Kinda like fixing up the passenger seat nicer than the driver seat. Is there enough room to do it without a body lift?

Re: Anyone ever try.......

I would think there would be, but bought this truck with the lift already in it so not sure if anything would interfere. The reason it came to mind is I'm running 4 high back racing style bucket seats. I have the rear seats mounted as high as I can and still be able to put the top on. Took another couple back road cruisin one nice sunny day and noticed how low the seats were to the floor. They looked awkward sitting with their knees so high. Just figured as long as I was tearing the truck down I'd look at making it a little better.

Re: Anyone ever try.......

Mine is about to get a new frame so I will ponder this for a bit. Maybe we could do this at the same time? I am going 2wd so it will be close to the frame with no lift. Might not be possible. I will take a look today.

Re: Anyone ever try.......

that section of the floor is a structual part of the tub. I imagine it could be done but major mods would be needed to strengthen the tub back up.
