Getting a third seatbelt in the back

Am I correct in a assuming the original back bench did not have 3 seat belts? We just had our third kid this year and I've figured out how to fit 3 car-seats and boosters in the back for my kids, but there isn' a middle belt.
Do you guys see any problems with sharing a middle buckle on the current belt blots that come out of the floor?

Thanx,
Craig

Re: Getting a third seatbelt in the back

My blazer came from GM with three seat belts in the back seat. The middle one comes off the bolts like you mentioned. It shares these with the inner straps on the outer belts. I say go for it.

Re: Getting a third seatbelt in the back

I know that the rear seat itself is an option, but are the rear seat belts an option as well? Mine does not have seat belts in the back and I haven't really seen where they would bolt to if it ever did have any...

Mine calls out the rear seat option, But doesn't call out the belts as a separate option. I'm not sure, but I would think in 1972 that all optional rear seats would have come with belts. My belts share the center bolts of the left and right belts with the center one. There is a dual plastic/rubber boot that manages the two belts on the single bolt down behind the seat.

Re: Getting a third seatbelt in the back

Yep, my factory rear seat has it's original 3 sets of seat belts. I would assume that if the seat was ordered it would have automatically came with belts, since seat belts were pretty much standard equipment accross the board starting in 1969. 1968 and older, seat belts were still an option on most vehicles.
