need help!
Installed my 496/th400 last night and there is a noise coming from bellhousing area. It almost sounds like a fan hitting a fan shroud but is most definitely coming from bellhousing area. It doesnt appear anything is rubbing. What can i look for?
Also im running a holley double pumper and throttle cable is too long for carb. Does holley make a throttle extension for their carbs so i can get the throttle cable to mount farther towards front of truck? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: need help!
remove dust shield on the bottom of the tranny and see if that is what is causing noise
while it is off check flexplat and torque converter for a wobble while running

Re: need help!
Do you have the bellhousing cover on? It could be bent and rubbing the flywheel.

Re: need help!
No wobbling that I can see. Eliminated the possibility of it being water pump, clutch fan, power steering. I guess I will try to shim the starter and see what happens.

Re: need help!
we had a problem like that with a high torque starter once had to shim the nose farther away from the body, the flexplate was hitting the starter teeth

Re: need help!
Well tried shimming starter and torque converter and unhooked flex plate from torque converter. No dice. Still making noise
